BREIF THOUGHTS: The past SHREKs have been a hoot and romp, especially in theaters filled with kids under 10. SHREK 3 was not. An incredibly not-funny offering, SHREK 3 failed to keep any sort of momentum. Dare I say the kids were bored? Where was the comic pace? Where was the irreverent zaniness? A disappointment for sure, even though my expectations weren't very high to begin with.
However, the best part of the movie (and what was ultimately worth my $) was the new TRANSFORMERS trailer. Oh, crap! Giant robots in disguise! Rock-and-roll! Seeing Optimus Prime transform before my eyes gave me chills. Maybe this trailer was the reason SHREK 3 did so well at the box office.
NEXT UP: PIRATES 3. But it will have to wait a week as Mom, Dad, and Liz are visiting this weekend. SUPER FUN! But unfortunately, this will put our summer movie schedule behind. (Check back the weekend after next for POTC 3.)
