| DAY TWO |
Here are the particulars for DAY TWO:
-We departed Jackson, TN at 9:30am CST.
-Arkansas needs to repair its roads and bridges. (And improve their "Welcome Center.")
-We saw a dead armadillo, fox and deer! (The armadillo was our favorite!)
-Bank of America froze my debit card after figuring that CJW doesn't often trip to TN & AR. This was an inconvenience I didn't mind. Safety first.
-Toad Suck is my favorite town in AR. (Toad Suck, TN factoid: The legend behind Toad Suck is that long ago, steamboats traveled the Arkansas River when the water was at the right depth. When it wasn't, the captains and their crew tied up to wait where the Toad Suck Lock and Dam now spans the river near Conway. While they waited, they refreshed themselves at the local tavern. The dismayed folks living nearby were heard to say: "They suck on the bottle 'til they swell up like toads." Hence, the name Toad Suck.)
-Arrived in Van Buren/Fort Smith, AR at 5:30pm CST. We ate dinner at a local Mexican joint (very good, very quaint) and are staying at a Best Western (nice so far).
Till the next time check out our "Day Two" pics on the photo page. (Still not the greatest, but we're trying.)

I feel better now that you guys have not made a marathon out of Day 2!
-
I love that you saw a town named Toad Suck! Awesome!
Plus, with your big Uhaul, you fit right in with the big rigs.
Keep driving safe!
-
Interesting town names! Kerri, your attempt at taking a picture of the Mississippi was hilarious!
